Dear Family and Friends,

Through the My Cause My Cleats initiative, the National Football League provides an opportunity for players, coaches, and now selected NFL team staff members to represent, bring awareness to, and fundraise for a charitable cause of their choice. I feel extremely fortunate to have been selected to design a pair of sneakers to represent my cause: Dr. Mukai's research at the Mass Eye & Ear Infirmary to cure retinal diseases.

At a young age, my brother, Quentin, was diagnosed with Juvenile Retinoschisis, a rare eye condition that can cause vision loss due to complications from the splitting of the retinal lining.  In December 2020, Quentin suffered a sudden loss of vision in his right eye from a retinal tear which resulted in 6 surgeries.  He showed incredible resilience battling through multiple ER visits, surgeries, and post-op recovery which included being facedown 24/7 for multiple weeks, all while being recruited as a D1 athlete, getting into college, graduating high school, and even building his own computer.

As a lifelong patient of Dr. Mukai at Mass Eye & Ear, my brother has always received top notch care and our entire family has been treated with the utmost respect by the team at Mass Eye & Ear.  While there is currently no cure for Juvenile Retinoschisis,  Quentin and our family remain incredibly hopeful, and through this My Cause My Cleats - Sight Set on a Cure effort we aim to raise awareness and funds to support Dr. Mukai's incredible research and do everything we can to find a cure and prevent any further vision loss for Quentin and others who suffer from retinal diseases.
